Poetry travels with its makers. Where a poet was born — the language they first heard, the landscape outside the window, the political weather of the century — leaves traces in the work, even centuries later. This map gathers the birthplaces of every poet in The Versery so you can see those traces geographically: the English Romantics clustered around London and the Lake District, the American transcendentalists scattered through New England, the mid-century confessionals concentrated in the postwar United States, the lone outliers in Alexandria, in Wales, in the American South.
